I recently read a friend’s Facebook post about the irony of ‘holiday stress’.
Here in the northern hemisphere we are entering the dark winter months. In nature, this is a time when the world slows down. The leaves have fallen from the trees and the whole natural world seems to be drifting into a cozy slumber.
Most of the plant life and animals recognize that this is a time to conserve energy in order to survive the winter. For us humans, it’s a natural time to wind down, rest, and reflect inwardly.
Yet here we are once again ramping up into a frenzy of holiday activity, party planning, family gatherings, and crazed consumerism.
It’s during this time of year that our disconnection with the natural rhythms of the earth become glaringly obvious. And as we find ourselves more and more out of step, we experience this imbalance as acute symptoms of stress, inflammation, and all kinds of illness.
But what if we could change that? What if we could intentionally step back into a place of calm, ease, and balance?
